Taylor is a professional drummer, music educator and songwriter based in the Los Angeles area. He holds an AA degree from the world renowned Drum Program at Musicians Institute where he immersed himself in intense drum set and percussion studies, music theory and music business courses. While attending college, Taylor also took private guitar lessons from his father, Troy Dexter, who is a professional guitarist and graduate of Dick Grove Music Conservatory.

In his first semester at Musicians Institute, Taylor was hired to tour Japan playing in the American navy house band. After that experience, there was no doubt in Taylor’s mind that he wanted to pursue a career in music as a professional drummer. Upon graduating from Musicians Institute, Taylor has enjoyed a number of successes. Recently, he toured the U.S. with pop-star Emily Osment (Disney’s Hannah Montana) playing for audiences as large as 20,000 and opening for Enrique Iglesias and Travie McCoy.

Taylor can also be seen in the band on Fox’s hit show, Glee. He currently works with a number of different bands and artists in the Los Angeles area doing recording sessions and gigs.

Taylor has been teaching drums, guitar, and bass since 2006 to students of all ages and levels. His teaching style revolves around customizing lessons to the student’s goals and needs.

His enthusiasm, positive energy, and ability to break difficult concepts down into something that anyone can understand are all traits that make Taylor an ideal instructor for students of all levels.
